United 93

The first movie to commemorate 9/11 on the big screen arrives five years later, and not without controversy. (Is it too soon to depict the tragic event? Will it exploit the lives of the victims?)

British director Paul Greengrass brought an “indie-European” energy to the blockbuster hit “The Bourne Supremacy”, perhaps making him the right choice to deliver a sober and clear-eyed account of what happened on United Airlines Flight 93.

Headed for Washington DC, but heroically diverted by the passengers to a Pennsylvania field, Greengrass uses REAL TIME (a la 24) approach and non-recognizable performers to bring an unsentimental but ultimately sadder remembrance of those who lost their lives, making this film a substantial document.
