Michael Newman (Adam Sandler), a workaholic architect who's neglected his family in favor of his career, comes across a universal remote that allows him to perform TiVo-like functions on his life, pausing events or fast-forwarding through them. The remote begins to learn and create its own memory by choosing what events to fast-forward, and Michael begins to see how much of his personal life has passed him by.
